Tomasz Wolańczyk is a Professor of Child Psychiatry and Chairman of the Department of Child Psychiatry at the Medical University of Warsaw, the oldest university child psychiatry department in Poland.

Prof. Wolańczyk is a child psychiatrist, but he is also a trained neurologist with extensive experience in epileptology. He is also certified cognitive-behavioural therapist and founding member of  Polish Society of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. Now, his major clinical interests cover large fields of psychiatric diagnosis like ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, Eating Disorder, OCD. In 1995 he founded first ADHD out-patient department in Poland.

The scientific activity of the department focuses on the epidemiology and phenomenology of ADHD, tic disorders, OCD and the somatic complications of anorexia nervosa. Polish versions of Achenbach’s diagnostic system (CBCL, TRF, YSR) and several Polish versions of assessment tools for ADHD, OCD and tics, were prepared and standardized by him and members of his team. Dr Wolańczyk serves at the editorial board of several polish and international journals on psychiatry, child psychiatry  and pediatrics. He published 2 textbooks in child psychiatry and several popular books on ADHD.  Current studies concern epidemiology of ADHD in special subgroups, complication of ADHD drug therapy, genetic and phenomenology of Tourette’s, somatic aspects of eating disorders.
